hahaha pardon the exaggeration and drama-ness, but its the sort of wacky exhilaration i felt running through my whole body , IN WAVES, after the first news, 2nd news, third news and finally the ULTIMATE NEWS.

My dream of travel-ling as a career,
my dream of an un-typical and challenging career and a totally Fast-paced lifestyle which is nothing near to MUNDANE or routined ,IS WHAT IVE finally Gotten after all this while of what i thought was hopeful wishing!!!
I am so thankful for this opportunity and chance at this particular path in life and I am glad I did not give up after that couple of setbacks I'd faced initially!

Training starts in less than a weeks time and I could most possibly start flying by year end !

Officially my last day of work at Emitasia on wednesday, the company I am working for , where I enjoyed and did well in my first month and didn't even got a chance to talk about the company more and Im leaving already. for the better that is :D
just when Ive gotten closer to my colleagues, more accustomed to the environment, its time to say goodbye.
Thats life eh? unexpected and full of surprises :)

Yay! a step closer to being insing.com's ultimate hawker...

Here's what's happening :

InSing.com started the search for the ultimate hawker food lover in July. From 320 entries, they selected 20 of the most suitable candidates.

To provide the candidates with tips on good food photography and blogging, they invited Dr Leslie Tay, owner of ieatishootipost to conduct a sharing session at Si Chuan Do Hua Restaurant on 31 July.

The 13 of us ,Hawker Food Lover candidates who turned up that day were treated to a feast of delicious DIM SUM at the restaurant! ( and if you've read my previous post, yes, I was one of the lucky ones who got through to this "2nd round" where we had to Eat, shoot and post our review of the restaurant here!)

After all, the stakes are high—as the sole winner will walk away with a Canon EOS550D DSLR camera and a six-month gig to review hawker food with a monthly salary of $1000.

"The difference between a foodie and a non-foodie is an extra step before eating; snapping a good shot" hahaha..

being all foodies, at least no explanation is needed or no sudden exclamations of "STOP! let me take a picture first!" haha

I was having qualms and second thoughts about going down that day but did eventually and im glad I did:)
I learnt alot from the talk by Dr Leslie Tay on his tips on food photography and writing a food blog and not forgetting that awesome dim sum high tea we had 60th storeys high above the ground!!

Its one week to the results where 3 of us will be selected to go on to the final round of a hawker food challenge at Old Airport Road Food centre with Leslie tay.

The determining factor? The 3 that has the highest "yes helpful" votes on their review here.

What Ive been also busy with :

WORK WORK WORK.
Work's so far so good and time passes duper fast! It's almost a month into the job already. Surprisingly, I'm not feeling any stress whatsoever yet as with all other sales job.
One thing i like about this job is the Cash incentives they have on and off at work, a weekly thing!
Like when you play a game and in a stated amount of time complete this special task you gain a bonus item!
yeps. so fun. it motivates me and well, proud to say Ive manage to collect 2 week's bonuses already! woots.
hahaha.

A couple of major events besides the INSING.COM challenge,was the SPH ST701 new spree site.
An invitation to join their focus group on the new site , giving feed backs, learning how to operate the site as well.
But Confession: Wat I enjoyed most, honestly? was the dinner. HAHAHA. it was pretty good or maybe cos im too hungry? hah I would like to believe its the former.
Dinner for us all was a Japanese Bento set which I found out through self-discovery , it is from here : www.bento.com.sg

Unfortunately, they require a pretty huge amount of orders:( more for corporate. WHY WHY WHY so unfair?!

@ Riciotti river walk with Esther. we had a romantic nice Italian dinner here and was so tempted to come because of Ladyironchef's post about it last week. their ONE for ONE pasta promotion on Wednesday was a pretty good deal.

Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant

This restaurant situated way up on the 60th storey atop UOB Plaza ,with a view to boast was the highlight of my afternoon. High tea expectations of the usual dim sum was met with a delightful twist because what came plates after plates certainly threw me off guard!

At 22yrs of age ,I thought I must have seen most if not all kinds of Dim sum already but not in this case of high tea at Si Chuan Dou Hua! haha Out of the whole high tea menu, I was highly anticipating the arrival of majority of the items which seemed completely new to me!

The familiar ones were the HAR KOW (steamed crystal prawn dumplings) which was not spectacular and just like the good ones Ive tried before.
The siewmai was cute because its bite-size and it was very tasty! you could feel the textures of the meat and prawns when chewing unlike most others where the meat used are all minced!

This crispy fried beancurd skin prawn dumpling was another usual Dim sum item. Another well done , you-can-never-go-wrong-with-this dish :)

This plate of Spring rolls surprised me, I usually dont eat springrolls because of the tonnes of radish and vegetables. But THIS ONE, WAS filled with what tasted like SHREDDED MEAT AND MUSHROOMS. SO SO GOOD!! I could finally enjoy the crispyness of the springroll and a non-vegetarian filling that was AWESOME!

The Pan Fried Pancake with Chicken floss is a MUST TRY and that I agree with the waitress who said it is one of their most popular items on the menu. These golden bite size pan fried buns sinks in the minute you bite down,revealing a moist and salty chicken floss filling ,a truly satisfying combination!

Another unique item on the menu was their Pan fried Seafood bun with sesame, looking deliciously steamed and then pan-fried, It was soft on the outside with a surprising filling of seafood inside , the consistency of the filling was compact and full of flavour which goes so well with the warm plain bun on the outside.

Last but not least, another must try would be this pan-fried chicken meat dumpling!Memorable because it not only was a lovely looking dish , the soft and chewy dumpling came with an excellent filling of fresh succulent chicken and every bite was terrific!

To end off, I have to say the Crispy Green Tea Glutinous Rice ball is an unforgettably sweet happy ending to this wonderful high tea!

Indeed Crispy on the outside, the center was a splendid sweet surprise! Warm and sweet Black Sesame paste oozed out after the first bite and inbetween was chewy soft muah-chee !
Ive never tasted such a unique creation before! another MUST TRY item :)

At the end of this high tea, I felt like Ive just discovered a gem. Some place with great scenery and such deliciously-well-crafted dim sum ,there was the sudden urge to share this place with everyone ASAP! :D
Definitely going back for their dim sum again!

Bread & Butter Pudding (Step by Step with images)

Here comes this Bread and butter recipe, something Ive long wanted to try!!

Having tried it at a couple of restaurants and popular buffets in Singapore, I was dying to see if I could make it because it taste really delicious and yet it is so so simple!

Just a little history on this pudding if you dont know what is it :
Bread and butter pudding is a traditional dessert popular in British cuisine!
Maybe more familiar british food stuff would be yorkshire pudding/bangers and mash etc.
It is a dessert which I personally think is an inbetween sweet and savoury because looking at the ingredients, there's butter ,eggs,cream, milk and even sugar ! :)
Its wholesome and oh-so-good.
Usually served hot and goes well with a dash of Vanilla sauce or what I prefer is a scoop of Vanilla Ice-cream to go with it! wahla! Perfect! hehe

Its so easy to make and anyone can do it since the ingredients are really just basic ingredients you can just grab from the nearest convenience store and you dont really need any skills to do this :)

So anytime you feel like having some, just go ahead and DO IT! haha

Here's the ingredients to prepare:

Approx 10 slices of white bread (you could use a day or two old bread, it would be even better)
Enough butter to spread
300ML of milk
120ML of liquid whipping Cream
50Gm Castor Sugar
2 tsp of vanilla essence
3 Eggs
Brown sugar (to sprinkle)
Sultanas for sprinkling (optional)

1)Halve all the bread slices into triangles like below (at this time, you can choose to remove the skins or not, in my case, i did not)

2)Now spread them with butter both FRONT & BACK.

3) prepare your baking dish, gotta be deep and wide enough and butter it all over

4)Like what you see below, layer the slices of bread row by row evenly and if you have any thing to add like sultanas/raisins add them after this first layer then stack a 2nd layer on top evenly .make sure theres "2 layers" of these overlaying bread. (if you need more bread, just add more, as it depends on your baking dish size) then topped it with optional sultanas/raisin if any.
Then leave it aside

5)Now pour the milk and liquid whipping cream into a pot and heat it up. (do not let it boil)

6) Now pour the heated milk mixture into a mixing bowl, combine the Sugar, Vanilla essence and eggs and whisk it till its well mixed.

7)when you're done whisking it, slowly pour this mixture into the baking dished with your bread. (It is suppose to soak at least 3/4 of the dish and cover most of your bread)

8) when done pouring, just try to press down the bread so as to ensure it soaks up the mixture, press them gently all around.

9) Lastly, sprinkle the top with some brown sugar and if you want , raisins/sultanas. and leave it aside for about 20mins to set.

10)Now it is ready to be baked at 180*C or hotter depending on your oven and let it slow bake. Stick a tooth pick in to check, it should come out clean when its done and not too soggy and moist! :)

Leave it out after its done to set for about 30mins. It should harden up.

Then cut out a piece served with a Generous scoop of Vanilla Ice-cream :)
(anytime, jut heat it up with a microwave and served hot! )

haha This weekend was different.
I stayed home pretty much throughout.
except just on sat.

Where was everyone else ? so it seems.
Friends and their lovers,

the other kinds, not that it mattered.

sigh. Good and bad.
I did alot of things like finally going Jogging, cooking a couple of dishes and making awesome new discoveries.
basically, being a full time couch potato; I was getting used to.
hahaha
Me being a couch potato and getting cookie involved, he's of course very glad .

My food adventures at home, there's Bread and Butter Pudding with Vanilla Icecream, Potato Gratin and Pork balls with Ikea-meatball-sauce! which will all be elaborated in another entry SOON!

and after much raves about this movie, I finally caught it in 3D :
Its such a cute and funny show! I could just laugh non stop at certain scenes, the kind of laughter that can go on and on and on ha ha ha.
Heartwarming, funny, despicable and nice!
Its the sort of plot where the bad guy turns good and u get some hot warm fuzzy feeling of happy-ness. Hahaha

and apparently JASON SEGAL voiced VECTOR and Will Farrel ; GRU. but hey, looking at them in real life, they should switch ! hahahaha.
& something to rant abt. I dont know why, until now, 3D movies still makes me feel abit uncomfortable -.- so sad, i had to keep adjusting the 3D glasses the whole time. Hmph.

and I totally love the movie's official sound track cos its just KICK-ASS AWESOME.

ok, so i have been missing for the past 2-3mths
haha ever since i graduated.

Ive not done much or anything significant :(
no trips. no holidays.
but ive been slacking around alot..........
eating alot.................... not that ive grown. for sure!
hahaha

Ive tried a couple of cool temp jobs...
Its fun experiencing different things before finally joining the rat race but even till now, im still not prepared to be a "rat".
ARGH:(

besides having so many firsts so far in these jobs,
another one was the world cup 2010 .
which i'd placed my first bet with the singapore pools ha ha, for the last 2 matches.
Its fun to watch and feel anxious but minus the part that ive lost all bets that i placed :/
talk about beginners luck-.- doesnt apply here in this case ! bah... :X

Caught the finals with Xl,Hy and Kel but it was so boring most of us fell asleep even before half time! lol.

Just last Sat:
Set up a stall with esther at a Flea @ SCAPE

MAD CROWDED. with very unorganised stalls sprouting out on every corner and space everywhere ! omg. pretty disastrous. but glad we got a good spot along the walkway!
It has been months since we last set up at a flea!
Glad we did this :) and made abit of money though not alot... It was an experience worthwhile!

Bought this "diamond" ring!! haha.

& well,

Most of my spare time goes to him here:
trolling through Ikea for at least 5 times in the past month and a half.
eating lots and lots of meatballs and chicken wings.
(In the midst of a room revamp) haha
one of my fav things to do on earth!

I have alot more to actually talk about but its just not getting out of me as yet , either cos its late.
and the 2 entries that was just updated, took up quite alot of my time. hahaha. and the worst is,
i dont know when ill be back.

I am pretty used to rotting at home these days, being a couch potato, slping in, though ive not been staying up THIS LATE since long. Its 5.37am now. omg.. and Ive got a poker game on tmr :D ha ha ha.

Enjoying my short-lived holiday cos the rat work is starting end of this month, something im quite looking forward to but still not sure where am i heading with this in life. -.-
argh. all the heavy weight thinking like this I absolutely hate!

(long over due post!)

Came here for HY's bday Celebration in May , for dinner.
Basically, as the name says it all, everything comes with fries!

Interesting concept cafe , reminds me of an old school canteen but of course, more polished in this case.
The main crowd seen here was generally younger so thus, louder and noisier haha..

Menu was straight to the point and simple. Their dishes dont have funny names so no descriptions were needed i guess! and whats missing which I think is important to have in menus are the pictures of the dishes !

But it was okay since alot of their items in the menu were pretty common and popular , no pictures were needed to picture it in my mind.

Not an extensive amount of items but enough for all 7 of us to have something different each :)
Prices are really affordable considering the location!

All mains come with your choice of fries and they really have a great deal of variety of fries
From sour cream&onion to bbq to curry etc.
(Alot of them said the curry was good! but me, I love the sour cream and onion)
another choice to make was STRAIGHT CUT or CRINKLE CUT!
Pleasant

One of the interesting items was this One Egg Soup. This creamy chicken-like broth topped with what seems like a fried egg (minus the yolk). It was a unique and intriguing combination but its nothing spectacular when it comes to drinking/eating it haha

Their food was good, couldnt go wrong with them. Like the good old' Ham and cheese sandwich or my Spaghetti Bolognaise :)

Their milkshakes were priced very reasonably at about <$6 per normal-sized cup!

and I really love the one I ordered!!

Note: Forgot to try their desserts that are pretty much talked about too :( Since the main courses left us all too full. argh. will definitely go back to try their desserts again!

Oreo Cheese Cake (Non Bake) Step by Step

A STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO MAKING YOUR VERY OWN OREO CHEESE CAKE

First, What you need:

Ingredients:
1 cup liquid whipping cream, lightly whipped
150g crushed OREO Original Cookies without cream
2 tablespoons lemon juice
3 teaspoons gelatine, dissolved in 1/4 cup boiling water
169g caster sugar
500g block PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
50g butter, melted

1)As you can see, remove all the cream from the oreo cookies , place them in a bag and crush them well :) (refer to pic below)

2)Now melt about 50G of butter.

3) Mix enough of crushed cookies with the right amt of butter , result should be a moist soft soil-like mixture.

(Amt depends on how big ur springform pan is and texture of this mixture is to be moist enough to hold together and pressed firmly covering the based. Thickness is up to u, but of course, not to thin as this lines the base of your cake :) )

Make sure it covers the whole base of your pan as shown above then put in the refrigerator to chill while doing the next few steps.

4) Lightly beat the whipping cream, Do not beat until it turn into curds.

5)In a seperate bowl beat the PHILADELPHIA cheese and sugar until smooth.

6) Fold in the gelatine mixture(it is a kind of hardener used mostly in jellies, if you prefer a more solidified cheese cake, you may double the qty :) )

7) Add in the 2tbs of lemon juice ( you may add more if you like)
8) Now, add in the whipping cream and more OREO Chocolate Cookie crumbs (amt as you like) and mix well :

9) Finally, take the chilled base out from the freezer and add in the cheese mixture

(any leftovers, just repeat the step again for a suitable container and use the left over mixture)

FINALLY, Refrigerate for at least 5hrs or better, over night and it is ready to serve! :)

Then decorate it as you wish with more oreo or choc chips etc! :)

My time at Food and hotel Asia 2010

It was honestly one of the best fairs Ive been at( not that I go to alot of fairs, not at all haha ) but I think this will be the best still.
Thanks to Xueli, I had a chance to work at this fair as a promoter for one of the exhibitors in this very very huge fair that is held only once every 2 years.

This fair is only open to trade visitors meaning the public is not allowed and even for trade visitors the entry fee was pretty expensive if im not wrong! Oh my, what a great opportunity that I got to go to this fair and get paid! *you have no idea how fortunate I felt I was when I entered the fair, It was better than striking 4D ! *
ha ha

Ive never heard of this event at all before, so It was an eye-opening experience and a very inspriring and educational time working there at this fair for 3days. (the fair lasted 4days!)

This is the booth I worked at :
A taiwan company who distributed a famous Taiwan noodle brand: 度小月擔仔麵
and pork/condiments sauces

The Boss and lady boss with the Taiwan ambassador in Singapore I think.
She was famous! the taiwanese exhibitors all wanted to snap a picture with her when she was "patrolling".
the crowd was huge wherever she went hha and her "paparazzi followers" all wore suits as you can see. HOW ATAS . I like !!!!
*At this event, almost every man was suited up. *
nice nice niceeeee! :D

It was a pity they didnt had the utensils and props to let people try the noodles like what the other booths were doing!! Since it is their first time getting a booth at this event.
though they did let me cut a few Honey cakes that is part of their "food stuff ".
THE HONEY CAKE WAS SO GOOD, I secretly stole a few more bites than I think I should have. HAHA

It was fun wearing gloves , slicing the cakes like I was some pro-chef. HAHA.
genuine people came to try but like any other free give aways there were always the freeloaders who just want to eat.. ( I AM ONE AT THIS EVENT I ADMIT HAHAHA)

During the whole 3 days, Ive met so many interesting people from all walks of food-life, had countless of tastings and saw plenty of food products that perhaps would never get a chance to be sold in Singapore!

People who visit this fair would most likely be dealing with food or the service industry.Stretching from hall 2 to hall 10(@expo) , you can imagine how huge this event is!
I was in Hall 7, mainly the food section and boy, the people who were grazing the event had the most awesome job. SHOPPING FOR FOOD?!

Part of my job scope was to get name cards and exchange business contacts for the company I was working for and wow, some of the ppl I met includes the Merchandising manager of walmart China! (didnt know china had walmart!?) , bosses of supermarts and markets in indonesia/thailand/hongkong etc, pretty impt person from penang chef's association etcetc. and even a director of a dessert cafe in Singapore!

and within the span of 3days, the variety of food I tried that were offered at almost all the different boots in the halls ,definitely could not be counted with my 2 hands. (ill need to borrow yours!) HA HA HA

There was also so much to see and learn :D
Demonstrations, fresh seafood, new techonology , breakthrough -gourmet

From desserts to meat to pastries and even liqour! everything was there and there was no food you could not find im sure!

This event gave me another idea of a possible career path in my life.
working in the food industry!
haha how nice would it be , If I could be paid to shop for food ? taste food ? buy them?

I believe nothing's impossible though, so MAYBE.. maybe one day I would be doing something like this and maybe in 2012 I'll be visiting the event this time as a trade visitor instead!

I am going to be done with sch in about a months time and sadly, it is only now that my lessons are getting pretty interesting! Today morning, going to school without sleep at all, we had exercise routine in class. Stretching etcetc.

Pita wrap with portobello mushrooms, ham and mozarella cheese!

Its a really Fast Snack to do!!

all you need is Pita wraps (buy instant ones, from the super market), Ham , Shredded mozzarella and some fresh Portobello Mushrooms!

I remember hearing about this somewhere before : Do not slice Portobello mushrooms, instead, you break them into small pcs by hand! this way, it wouldn't lose its nutrients or something like that haa.. doesn't hurt to listen! So that's what I did, I broke about 2 medium sized portobello into small pcs (They're really easy to break!)

And the reason why I used Portobello is because this mushroom is probably one of the tastiest! Which taste especially good when oven toasted! the pungent smell, the strong earth mushroomy taste !! YUM!

I added abit of mayonaise just for the sake of it!ha ha

One by one , just stack up the ingredients , from the most flat to the chunky ones. inbetween sprinkle the mozarella so in the end, it'll sort of holdthe ingredients together when the mozarella melts:) and the last final layer should be mozarella ! :D

then put it in the oven till the cheese melts and the fragant cooked smell start coming out!

The past week was pretty relax and stress free!

Two days in school was nothing but fun !
We had a Fashion Flea Market , where we got to sell things!

WED DAY 1: Brought my clothes, a pair of shoes and geek glasses (leftover frm my 21stbdayparty) to sell and surprisingly the crowd was not bad and i earned a fair bit of money just being there for about 4 hrs :)) ! and the shoe was sold, a bag was sold , some clothes and ALL MY GEEK GLASSES were sold too! haha .
then my lecturer came to ask me to sell the cupcakes on day 2 of the flea, the ones that I made for class the other day but my oven just recently faced some problems that would require me to take a longer time baking. I hesitaed but decided to do so in the end since it was gg to be fun selling something I made!
then a few of us decided we should sell some food too cos day 1 of the flea, there were no food sold and most of us had to go to nearby coffeeshops to buy food which was quite troublesome!

THURS Day 2: haha It was a pretty hilarious sight!In the whole flea market, we were the only ones selling food !! A whole table of food! From my homemade cupcakes to even hotdogs&Curry puffs! I was so glad my tray of cupcakes sold out within the first few hours and by the end of the whole flea, we had manage to sell almost everything :) and of course, made a decent amount of $$ ! we did put our clothes on sale too. hahaha.

2nd time making the cupcakes, I definitely got slightly better at it ! haha
it looked alot better than the first time :D

FRI NIGHT:

Played a whole night of Texas Poker at Edwin's . For 6.5 HOURS, it was the longest ever poker game Ive played!! :/ pretty torturing but at least i manage to survive with just one buy-in and a snall profit even! hahaha

Saturday:
Headed to town with HY to do some errands. Did alot of walking and some shopping , something i havent done in a long while .. haha. and had in mind to buy a cake home for my mum since it was her bday and THANKGOD I remember THE ICING ROOM(by Breadtalk) where Icould DIY my own cake deco! So yes, we headed to ION to do it!
It was super fun!!!
I bought the mini 4Inch cake for $12.80 and was given some candy flowers and 4 diff pipings of coloured frostings to decorate the cake ! :)

The whole area had many little kids doing their own cake deco haha just think about the past where the furthest we could go to express our creativity were sitting down on stools squeezing coloured paint on to this black outline mould? or the Sand art one!
hahaha. shit, I AM old

Well, like a little Kid , I stood beside them , having fun decorating my own cake. The only difference is I was alot taller but my design rocked man. HA HA though the writings on the cake kinda suck, I insist that it is the piping's fault lol

Well the most unfortunate thing happened when I got home, trying to keep the cake in the fridge . THEN MY HANDS had to be idiotic and spastic, TO LET THE CAKE SLIP OUT OF IT.
Gosh, the cake fell upside down. and when i opened to take a look at it, It was a mess :(
ARgh. Terrible

LOL. ITS HILARIOUS ACTUALLY AHAH

I did show her the picture of the original Cake design though ha ha ha. she laughed like mad too.

and honestly, It was surprisingly good! There were actually fruits inside! I saw raisins, what-seems-like-Cherries and mango too! Didnt eat them so I cant confirm :P but yeah the cake tasted great! so sweet and refreshing ;the sponge was soft and light and the cream wasnt too dense or overwhelming at all. What a treat! yum:)

Not my usual kind of Genre but I thought the plot the was pretty exciting and thrilling.

Third time eating at Brotzeit!
Their very first outlet was at Vivocity where i ate twice there and decided to come to the one at 313 somerset for dinner today with the parents and bro.
Pretty similar to Paulaner Brauhaus , both a german restaurant and serves a wide variety of beer.

The al fresco style dining is great!
It was actually a pretty windy night so that made it even more pleasant.
They had lighted-candle-like lights and long sturdy cushioned seats that were very spacious! :)

How can u not order a beer at a german bar/restaurant?
My bro said it was good.

My Chinese New Year 2010

Chinese New Year is officially over as of yesterday. *sob*

but it ended with yusheng lao-ed, not forgetting a sumptuous dinner spread too! :)

This Chinese New Year is no doubt one of my most happening ones to date because of the non stop feasting, gambling and visiting !!haha
Though i totally regret not visiting CHINATOWN this year :(
I must do that nxt year because it just feels incomplete not squeezing with the mad crowd , hearing the vendors shouting funny cheers to sell off their goods and shopping for CHEAP goodies nearing the countdown to CNY. baaahh :(!!

Reunion dinner and the day to start hanging all the CNY DECO :)) Steamboat and Teppanyaki !!

On the first day, it was just home entertaining relatives of my mum's side at my place

2nd day :
To auntie mag's house and all my dad's side relatives gathered there including grandma.
All my little cousins would be dressed in really pretty traditional clothings! One even came as the Little Nonya with all the sarong etc. Adorable! :)

and at night... it was the highlight of my chinese new year , a first ever gambling gathering held at home! I just invited almost anyone and everyone and it proved to be a bad choice since there is only SO MANY my house could accomodate and even though the aircon was on that night, I remember how HOT IT WAS . I was perspiring non stop , just sitting down gambling away haha
ha from 9pm-6am. I didnt win nor lose much considering the amt of time spent doing nothing but gambling haha
There were poker,mahjong,blackjack and scores of friends whom i unfortunately might have been a bad host too. HA
The tiramisus i made for the night! I only tried abit since there wasnt enough to go around and i cant even remember any feedbacks from that night! ARGHH haha and its the first time i doubled up the usual quantity so QUALITY of it might have been compromised, just a disclaimer. haha

where i visited 3 places . to feast and gamble! HAH

Visited Boon Yong's house in the evening with xueli.
Great spread of Laksa and finger food.
not a fan of spicy food but boy, It was delicious!!
Glad I tried! it definitely made me perspire abit but it was worth it haha
as usual, gambled abit of blackjack with his relatives and all.
I rmb the last "hand" I played the banker got BLACKJACK.

Then I rushed off next to another relative gathering at UBI:
Uncle Koh's Office at ubi.
pretty awesome place for a party.
there was a Karaoke room and then he turn his warehouse into a Casino for the night too , sighting a sign that said free entry for that night only. hah
well, pay peanuts we get monkey in this case, we had torn decks of cards lol and substitute JOKERS for certain cards ahahah hilarious
Not forgetting a huge buffet spread which I ate abit from though I was really full from By's house earlier.

huge crowd at his place with 10 over players made this game even more thrilling.
Well, to sum it up.
At one point of the game i was losing $100+, at another point of the game i was winning $70 + hahaha
it is god damn exciting!

hello blog, havent visited in a long long time. i feel guilty! its school mostly that is keeping me away for so long. 2 more months 2 more months and its all over, when life is going take on a different meaning and things are going to get more complicated than it already is now . its 4 oclock in the morning on a saturday "night" , just ended a game of mahjong with xl,rz and shan. Visited the NATAS fair at expo in the evening, paid the entrance fee of $4 "just to take a look" haha i think u really need to spend the whole day there, visiting all the diff booths to compare prices before u can get a GOOD DEAL. theres just a million of them. Still deciding where to go for my "graduation trip" in june/july. but yeah, its just a fancy name for my urge to just leave spore and venture somewhere far and new:) oh how i wish............... !
thankgod for the week's break now , something i needed so badly. i believe we all do. and this month is honestly not the best because of how unlucky ive been.. i cant stress enough. first my wallet, then my watch and then my phone . not excluding the many other minor things that are really unbelievably bad luck for me. Just like earlier, I unknowingly stepped onto a cockcroach that shan said was just crawling near me. ?!?!? WTF. first time i stepped on one :(

Was here one night when i had the cravings for something sweet and since I haven't had Milkshake in the longest time, this was a perfect place!
It had been lingering in my mind for quite some time after I read about it on ladyironchef's blog!! Read more about it there! because his pictures and description are no doubt, way better than mine :]

Its a little hidden gem! right behind the main street, in a building where there's not a single sign telling me it is MAXWELL CHAMBERS ! Took me quite some time to search for it! but look hard and u'll find, its the only shop on the ground floor that was still open when i was there at about 830pm on a sunday :)
Love the simple yet eclectic interior deco etc! It's got this lovely whimsical atmosphere in there , a great match to its fairytale-like name :)

Flavours are limited but I'm sure anyone could definitely find something they like since its all the pretty popular general flavours!
and with suck quirky fun names its hard not to resist ordering ALL OF THEM :D

I like the fact that they have mini size for the milkshakes, this way, we could order more flavours to try!

2 of us , ordered 3 Mini sized milkshakes and a cup of choc chip cookies (homemade) .

The milkshakes were SUPER THICK and yummy :)
You can see how they were so thick they could stay "right in the middle of the straws"?! lol no idea how i should say it but u get the drift~ ha

Homemade chop chip cookies $2.50 : Generous , crispy!
I realise they were not very sweet and this way, makes it a great snack to go along with the sweet milkshakes! It doesnt spoil the taste of the milkshakes AT ALL.

Sir cookies and cream $3.30 : Rich , flavourful, creamy and thick. with lotsa crunchy cookies in them :) YUMMMM.

Chocolate truffle castle $3.30 : VERY heavy and chocolaty!
A little too rich for me considering that I have an abnormally sweet tooth.
You really got to like chocolate ALOT to love this. :)

Nutty Peanut butlet $3.30: This was Vanilla with a strong hint of peanut taste.. Doesnt really taste like peanut butter. haha

and I found some extra time now because my project meeting has been postponed!!

1.5hrs to be exact.

and woah! It's been almost 2 wks since i last blogged and It'll be crazy if I could recall all of what has happened in a chronological manner. haha! All I have are just loads of pictures. unblogged and unpublished! One thing's for sure : I just know that my "luck" is not behaving these days, not that I believe so much in luck but its just terrible!

How do you explain me "losing my wallet in jb" 5 days ago and then "dropping my 2mth old watch on the floor and having the watch face breaking!" a night ago ....
ALL THESE ARE JUST DEVASTATING.but im taking it easy as usual& looking on the bright side, I got back my wallet eventually with ONLY S$180 missing -.-
&
now, an outstanding wallet-damaging repair for my watch.

The unfortunate stuff aside, Chinese New Year is just 3days away :)))

Reunion dinner is making me excited, thinking about all the delicious food!!
then comes the first day of new year spent at home with relatives coming to my place. quite a boring first day but THE VERY NEXT DAY, a visit to my paternal grandma's and we're having potluck this year! woo fun! and at night a gambling party at my place!! YAY.
I dont know if gambling party is the right word to use but oh whatever! we're going to be gamble and have fun so gambling party sounds appropriate i guess! hahaha and I'll be making TIRAMISU for everyone !! EXCITED.

It was such a great cycling trip except we all came back with injured buttocks.

It's Complicated
Love this sort of romantic comedy with a little reality check sort-of movie.
This show's funny, sexual and abit eeew-ish.
The fact that all the flirting and making out were by the 50-60yr olds, is kinda gah-.-||| but! thank god, they look attractive enough to pull it off.
If it were the 50-60yr olds in singapore, I'd most probably leave the cinema halfway. HA
seriously, asians SO do not age that gracefully!

Past 2 weeks of rushing a project with a whole new group of strangers was surprisingly, an awesome start before the actual sch timetable :) I realize, it takes almost 2wks to feel comfortable with people you don't know and its amazing how each and everyone is nice,understanding & very tolerant towards each other ALL THE TIME. hahaha
thats really the beauty of the primary stage of a relationship/friendship/any ship.
but ya It may not be our true self cos its most probably a front-out-of-courtesy but still,
IT IS PLEASANT !

This 2wks-project had us worked with different students of other courses in the Fashion cohort.Working with textiles, Communication and Design and of cos , myself & another classmate from Management!
To create an online business that is fashion-led and cutting edge etc.
Well, the starting was tough but once the idea was settled, days pass like hours and hours pass like seconds. By the 2nd week ,closing the date to our presentation day, we were pretty rush!
and the worst thing was,on thurs, the night before the BIG DAY, we all stayed in sch till 1AM to finish up our presentation slides.
MADCRAZY!!

when it was all over, I felt kinda sad yet relieved ...
What we came up with ;all the work and ideas ,.was an awesome combination of everyone's hard work and thoughts!

Here I am, in bed , already the start of a new day. Ever since school started, it's been a race against time. Once I wake up at 730am, (an hr after the alarm sets off ringing like a mad slaughtered chicken ), I rush like I'm going to reincarnate(the Chinese saying), usually in 30mins or less I am done , amazing huh lol.. But the most time consuming thing that usually keeps me at home longer at this time is , sitting at my kitchen table, eating breakfast(whatever food I can find) and watching the clock tick away n feeling how it feels hotter as it gets from 8am to 9+am cos the sun's rising , here is thr start of my tweeting as i read my daily dose of tweets by friends hahaha terrible ... The 9-6pm segment of my day can roughly be judged by my tweets, tts how useful my itouch is in sch n being on 'ebuddy' too heh heh , after sch is an exceptionally long journey home and the start of a néw torture begins , like earlier, started on 'sch work' , a mad race to complete so I could have enough time to slp----- n here I am wasting slp time . But I just had to pen down this mad race against time. 4hrs left to slp, gd night

Ive been prawning ALOT in the beginning of the week,
and this has made me realise,
I no longer have any luck with prawning.
I think the no. of prawns I caught for the 3 trips(3hrs each time) i went, can be counted with my 10 fingers.

NO MORE PRAWNING , at least for now.
Went fish and co for dinner one night, and on a random day, was with mum , at this booth called Eralove in Bugis.they have such lovely deco (Their booth)!!

and on Friday night, the first thing i did after i woke up was to head to pasir ris to meet daphne, dickson and clement . To chill out at this beach side Cafe called Summer breeze.
The food is a little overpriced and ordinary , I guess we're paying for the ambience then.
German Potato Egg Salad (or so they say) , Calamari , Pan fried Fish and Salmon etc.etc.
Mediocre, nothing spectacular.
But the ambience was great albeit too dark to eat at times.
("we have no idea what we're putting in our mouths half the time) haha

The following day! The last saturday.
we decided to indulge and pamper ourselves!
We had high tea at Carousel 3.30pm-5pm.
(Our first choice at Sheraton was fully booked :( )

I wouldnt say it was a bad choice because the spread was good.
though the only thing that made me went for a second helping was The Bread and Butter Pudding. (delicious!)
everything else was just "try and done."
At abt $40 per person, It was Pretty expensive for the kind of food we're eating.
Local Cuisine, A little japanese, more local cuisine and an extensive dessert spread.

What we're paying for is Quantity and not quality I guess.
but im most happy about their Sweets spread.

The headed to play L4d for 2hrs. And when we finally almost completed the mission, the stupid time went out and just logged off on its own. WTH!
then the arcade, for some guitar hero, DDR and sliding thingy(shit i forgot what its called)

lol. Amazing how i could play ddr with an injured ankle. but yeah! reminder of the times in secondary sch, playing this game at the arcade like it was some big deal :/ and oh! I think I have the game at home too ,with the mat. HAHA. time to take it out and play some day.

The whole place was definitely more Christmas-y with the beautiful lighted-musical Xmas tree!!
A small party that was definitely prepared to the max, overloaded with drinks,scrumptious food like Turkey, Fondue, prawn salad,potatoes,Pitas and Nachos , countless of tidbits etcetc. omg.
IT WAS A NIGHT of SIN .
We ate we drink and we played fun games!
There was also a gift exchange! A fun xmas party activity must-have! :)

I love all my xmas gifts! :)

It has never been a habit to celebrate Xmas so "elaborately" but I am glad it was different this time (2009)!

And on Xmas Day itself!....
we decided to spend the day in JB !
With Daphne, Xueli, Edwin and Charles , we headed to JB by bus.

We eat and shop and eat again and SHOP AGAIN.
We even tried out neoprints (Something we havent tried in a longgggg while, probably years ago since any of us took neoprints)

The best bargain has got to be dinner!!
The SZE CHAR was delicious and cost us less than S$10 each , which was freaking cheap for the seafood and the variety we had !!!

We shopped alot and I guess the xmas spirit "got to us abit too much".
We all became overly generous with ourselves.

3days before the actual potluck countdown party.

Xueli, daphne and I baked cookies and cupcakes!
It feels just like the right time to do such stuff haha.
*festive period!*

A whole day was spent shopping and baking!

We could call it a success.

after a couple of burnt cookies and failed sinking cupcakes, we manage to finish what we had set out to do and even did a "SET" for the party!

and 3 days later, on Xmas Eve.

Everything else just kinda fell nicely into "plan". :)

For the XMAS EVE COUNTDOWN cum POTLUCK PARTY at my place:

That evening was pretty surreal, with xmas songs playing in the living room.. and the place slowly filling with people...
ahhhhh... how nice... :D

*fondue time, was kinda my favourite of the whole party haha cos wow, eating fondue at home just felt so GOOD. the ice-cream , and marshmallows with FRESH WARM FONDUE! :))!!*

Risky Business part II

*Continued from part I of trip*

After the water rafting ,

we then headed to this hilltop for lunch! another 40mins journey to this beautiful hut on top of a hill ,with nice scenery and all.
Homecooked lunch! Rice, dishes and soup, with the beautiful nature surrounding us all.
BUT
we were still all WET and soaked ,pretty uncomfortable but no choice! since there was another activity right after.

and that is ..

Waterfall abseiling.
When we first arrived, the sight of the waterfall was kinda disappointing to me.
lol.

because I Was expecting something of at least .......
but oh well, the water gushing down looks 10times more than the expected one HAH

before the actual "abseiling" , we had to "hike" all the way up the to top, and godddd, the hike up on the way was super disgusting!
muddy steep rocks, plants ,trees, insects and bugs everwhere.

I couldnt wait to just start abseiling down.
The first time was pretty scary! it was quite a height when u look down and the feeling of your whole weight being supported by just a rope...

we were told to keep our legs straight all the time and slowly stepping down and releasing the rope from our hands. (this part hurt pretty badly, cos I guess being pretty afraid, we tend to over exert too much strenght on gripping!!) and also the harness was darn painful!!

It was all worth it when almost halfway down, we were instructed to move to the left, the middle of the waterfall!!

With the water gushing down on our legs, it was even harder to move down, because it became extremely slippery.
still, WE ALL DID IT somehow. haha
It was a breeze I think. haha though i admit, I might have took my time at one point or the other to ENJOY THE COLD CHILLY WATER, FALLING RIGHT ON ME :)
It was truly an amazing experience!

The 2nd time , was even more amazing, I was given a chance to start from going down the middle of the water fall. HARDER! since the "current" of the water was stronger there!
but well, the 2nd time was EASY :) heh

We had to stand at the back of a lorry after the waterfall abseiling, to head back to the campsite..
We were still all soaking wet, and the journey was about 40mins long and bloody BUMPY.

In the coach , on the way to Singapore,

this time, the 8hrs journey back was a breeze since we were all too tired and slept throughout the ride back!

THIS ADVENTURE WAS TRULY AMAZING

White water rafting is super thrilling and exciting!!

Risky Business part I

and so,
even after much"early invitations and solicitations "
WAHAH

in the end, we were still the only ones who were ultimately going for the trip to IPOH.

We = Daphne, Xueli and Myself.

It actually felt more thrilling , in a way ; Venturing out there on our "own"!

The day came finally. A FRIDAY.
I rmbed I spent the afternoon at the ISETAN PRIVATE SALE with mum and bro , carrying my huge handcarry luggage all day and headed straight to meet them at Golden mile for the night bus there.
(Sri Maju coach was GOOD. The seats were wide and comfy!!)

but still,
THE 8 HR BUS RIDE was a slight torture.
I only manage to fall asleep at the 5th hour into the journey.
ALIENS IN THE ATTIC was shown for the earlier part of the bus journey, after that its pretty much just me staring into darkness outside and listening to my ipod.

The first and only stop over at a "food centre" for toilet break and some snacks.

We arrived to a closed Coach headquaters at abt 6am
and had 2hrs to spare since the coach to the water rafting site only comes at 8am!

We decided to take a "risk" and get to this dimsum place we "heard of" .
Thank god the cab driver knows what we're talking about :)
Here, we arrived at FOO SAM DIMSUM.
It is this huge place with tall ceilings and pretty traditional chinese interior.

It was a busy sight! huge contrast from where we came from, where the streets are still dark and there was less than 5 humans anywhere in sight... haha
Over here, the place was almost packed! everyone was busy chatting away.. ordering. eating and of course, the traditional dim sum push cart-ers were busy at work :)

Instantly, a huge relief and then, the excitement to start eating came!
we ordered whatever we wanted ! At that moment, the price was the last thing on our mind haha
& to fill our stomachs and indulge was THE FIRST PRIORITY!:)
It was not exactly DIRTCHEAP but it was way more affordable than Singapore's , considering eating in such a "grand place" :)))
IIRC, each person had to pay less than S$10! for all that food! totally worth it!

After this hearty breakfast,
we cabbed back to the coach headquarters again and we spotted this mini bus waiting for us!
It was a 45mins bumpy ride into this "village"

and for the 45mins, the view was mostly the same throughout!

and we arrived to changed etc.
Back into the bus ride to another site, for briefing/meeting our instructors/donning on safety gear and etc! !

There were another group of 4 girls but luckily, we get our own boat! :)
The briefing was about 20mins . It felt like AGES cos I guess we all can't wait to just start climbing into the rafts and start paddling into the River!!
It came to us as a shock when they told us we gotta carry our rafts down the river.
and with just us, 3 girls and 1 instructor, it was almost impossible. THE RAFT WAS HUGE

luckily, one more instructor helped haha and it wasnt such a long journey down to river though there was quite a struggle at times to keep the raft steady on our heads!!

The moment I went into the raft, my heart almost stopped from all that excitement and adrenaline rush!! The feeling was OUTOFTHISWORLDHAPPY! hahahaha.
we could hear the gushing water meters away from where we were,(where the rapids were) and knowing that it is on this raft we'll be going through that! WOAH. super thrilling!!!
and throughout, the weather though looked sunny, WAS ACTUALLY PRETTY COOLING.
The water was CHILLY , ICE COLD!
The "safety guy", he would go through all the rapids first before we do! and woah, sometimes he do stunts of flipping and turning into and out of the water! hah

There were a total of 10 rapids and a few of them was pretty "WILD" .
One was called, EASY DROP. because of the sudden "drop in level".
These areas are the super thrilling parts were the boat could easily capsize if we were not careful.
Well, capsizing did not happen but many times, we were thrown out of our seats etc. and Daphne was pretty unlucky to have been thrown out and INTO the water . hah As a result, she lost one side of her shoe!

The whole thing lasted around 2.5hrs! The river is SUPER LONG !!

there were quite a few "safe rest points "where we could pause and take pictures :)
but after going through the rapids, We were all WET
so no harm ,going down soaking in the chilly waters and it wasn't cold at all!

I have lots to rave about now on top of my White water rafting trip..!

-The AWESOME POTLUCK PARTY LAST NIGHT in which we had funny gift exchanges , epic "countdown", delicious food & desserts and the best party guests around!!

-The rather impromptu SHOP-EAT-SHOP-EAT-XMAS-@-JB-Trip TODAY from 2-11pm.. ( MAJOR LOOTS ,self-given-xmas-gifts!Neoprints,CHEAP & Delicious TZE CHARetcetc)

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
but at the same time, i havent managed to have a good sleep so far.

TURNING IN NOW. yet another long day tmr!!

Eversince I came back from Ipoh, I have not had much time at all!
omg crazy. I dont know where did all my time went ?!?!
it was a mad tiring but incredible hell of an adventure-trip we 3 girls had.
I was in a coma for 15hrs! total K.O.
very refreshing coma !!!

there is actually more pictures but its all in daphne's camera BECAUSE :
long damned story;
manage to borrow a waterproof cam from edwin. so I brought it along, with my own camera and also another fisheye camera and my mum unfortunately spotted all 3 in my bag AND insisted on "taking back my own digi cam"
and LOW & BEHOLD,
the most unfortunate thing happen..
while i was busy taking pics and also rafting down the rocky white waters , the camera battery just died on me :( & it was only the beginning of the trip. #$%#$!$@#!@$
Now i know what to say when someone ask me " What is something you're most afaid of?"

I will DEDICATE A SOLE ENTRY on our IPOH TRIP soon.
Its too precious and awesome , it needs a whole entry on its own.
I HAVE SO MUCH TO RAVE ABOUT .

It was a crowded Saturday, almost every place else had a queue and this one didnt had a very long one.
I guess because its probably the newest restaurant in paragon, amidst all the other more "familiar" restaurants... But its now a new restaurant! There is actually a BIG O in wheelock place that I used to frequent quite a long time ago!!

I was always there ,more for their Sinfully Divine desserts eg: Mudpies

This was definitely a much bigger place compared to wheelocks, more of an open concept here but it was terribly ventilated. The kitchen area was of an open front concept as well, situated right at the entrance. THE BAD SMELL from all the cooking was seriously not taken care of properly. So expect to smell oily when you're done eating. (Perhaps, it was because they were new? Maybe things would improve i hope)
Menu comprised of the usual western fare, Fish and chips. pasta, steaks etc
& an interesting Pizza Menu (:

Ceasar Salad, topped with a sunny side and bacon (YUMYUM!! not the greens though since i didnt eat them , no comments! )

Cream of mushroom, Was ordinary and passable. Portion is enough to share since you wouldnt want to be too full for main courses.

A Seafood platter for 2 , (but we shared among 4 and it was just enough , really )
Calamari, Grilled Salmon, Batter Dory fish , Shredded Crab meat Cake and fragrant rice.
All's good :) The Dory fish especially and the fragrant rice was really well done, dot sure what was it that made it taste so good !

Another main course to share, Sausage platter with Mash! A mix of one beef and one pork sausage. NICE!

Chocolate chip icecream with a brownie-like based topped with almond shavings and chocolate sauce. It was FREEZING btw!

Decided to come here for dinner one night with the family, when I was wrecking my brains thinking where is it this time, that is worthy of my visit for dinner muahaha!

HAH just kidding but yeah , Ramen came to my mind first, then we ended up at Central Mall and then scrolled through the directory for a place to eat and there i saw the name "Santouka"
It was calling out to me immediately! and I rmb reading about the good Ramen they served (from ieatishootipost)
So that's how we ended up here for dinner!:)

I was pretty sick that night too so eating something SOUPY was my aim for the night.
No regrets,
I definitely got delicious and soupy Ramen to fill my stomach.

Cosy little place tucked right at the corner on the 2nd floor .

The menu was surprisingly limited, mainly Ramen with a variety of soup base you can choose from. (4 bases!)
Shio(Salt flavour the original) , Shoyu(Soysauce flavour), Miso(Soybean paste flavour) and lastly Karamiso(Spicy soybean paste flavour)

With a heavy palatte, I went with the salt flavour cause I guess that would be the "tastiest!"
and there was the normal Charsiew Ramen and the Tokusen Toroniku (Choice Pork which is the Pork Cheek) .
We all decided to choose the latter since its something different from the usual Char siews given at other Ramen places.

(which is suppose to be more valuable since they said from every pig, only a certain amt of Pork Cheek can be acquired)
They are all served individually with bamboo shoots, black fungus etc.
and just look at the generous serving of the pork! :)
This PORK CHEEK was almost melt-in-your-mouth good albeit slighty on the chewy side as well, IT IS GOOD :) its not fats at all, its soft MEAT!
The Ramen does not come with an egg, how disappointing but well, you can order it ala-carte at an additional $1.00 . (At least it was good,the usual semi-hardboiled egg!)
I think a good ramen should always come with an egg :)

The noodles was springy and boy, the portion of the noodles was REALLY HUGE.
I would order to share in future!
The soup was honestly, on the salty side, but to me , it was Tasty rather than salty :) hehe

Mum had her Miso soup base version, I tried it and it was equally tasty actually! just that its MISO TASTE.

Dad ordered the same thing as me (Salt flavour) and added Chilli powder, and for him, he felt that this was tooooooo salty..

I guess its really more suitable for those with a heavier palatte!

My brother's bento set that came with Char siew Ramen and curry rice! etc.

Ordered a Pork Cutlet tonkatsu. Looks were deceiving, it was bad. Tough meat and really tasteless.. I still think the one served at Tampopo is by far the best Tonkatsu Ive eaten.
